One Night Stand - pre-marital relations, requires a serious attention of the society. Khushboo, though acquitted in all the charges by the court, had given her statement as a very irresponsible lady. I think the court has overstepped in its judgement without caring for the welfare of the society in which we are living. If Khusboo can be acquitted for her remarks on premarital sex and live in relationships, as her personal opinion, that does not mean that every bonafide citizen should be guaranteed of such rights.
It is absolutely shameful and disgusting to even think of such practice in India. No doubt, every person has his own philosophy but he should not express anything in public without caring for its impact on the society in which we are living. So the freedom of expression needs to be redefined so that with this support, he may not inflict damages to the social fabrics and values of society and life.
Pre-marital sex and live in relationship is not at all appreciable from social point of view as there are serious consequences of dispute arising out of such relations in two families and chances of transmission of serious diseases like AIDS. The risks of participating in one-night stands are similar to the risks of having any other kind of sex.
Marriage is a very sacred relation and the modern the society should not take the shelter of what has been illustrated in Mahabharta on the issue of premarital sex and sex after marriage with another man was a fact. The wrongs committed in the past should not be repeated in the present. I don’t think any person that on knowing about the girl to whom he is going to marry is not a virgin, will marry.
What we need is to groom our youngsters to know that is right and wrong which ultimately our responsibility and good thing always prevail and in future when some one gives a statement in the public, s/he must think twice on humanitarian grounds so that it may not affect the people irrespective of caste, religion or gender in the society.
